DRIFTING

FLOOD PLAIN JOURNEY

From my train I see
A sudden expanse of water.
It stretches out beside a
Road reflecting the
Pressed steel of cars.

The train is following
A mesmerising river, all twists
And sinewy turns. Its strength
Charms me, carrying mud
To larger towns.

This red train is
A ballet of engineering and
Newtonian Laws, expressed
Through its complex electric gears.

The river unpredictably veers left.

I see the last pieces of
Sky on the ground, remnants
Of an impressive mirror -

I look into the future's gaps
As the train turns away.

FLOOD PLAIN JOURNEYv v.2

From my train I see
A sudden expanse of water.
It stretches out beside a
Road reflecting the
Pressed steel of cars.

The train is following
A mesmerising river, all twists
And sinewy turns. Its strength
Charms me, carrying mud
To larger towns.

This red train is pure motion.
A ballet of engineering and
Newtonian Laws, expressed
Through complex electric gears.

The river unpredictably veers left.
I see the last pieces of
Sky on the ground, remnants
Of an impressive mirror -
I look into the future's gaps
As the train turns away.

THE ISLE OF SLEEP

I would visit the isle of sleep
And lay heavy eyelids like
Gold anchors on the sand

And track footprints
Back in time, until the day
Of fabled innocence and love

When my lap of blood
Was warm blue
A tropical sky visited
By returning birds

And I would rest alone -
Unused by the hook of speech
And I would drift into my body
Into The Dark Red Sea,
And tell God everything.

This is beautiful, Chris. I can see the exotic island and I can hear your silent confession to God. Very beautiful!

So I've said it once already. Well, ditto!
